Quality & Compliance Manager

What matters to us is that you have a solid foundation in customs, an interest in legal and regulatory topics, and the willingness to develop your knowledge in new areas. You will work closely with the Quality & Compliance Director as well as colleagues from our operational teams and will gradually develop your expertise across the different areas of Quality & Compliance Management.

Your Responsibilities

Depending on your current experience and professional development, your responsibilities will include:

• supporting our branches with customs-related and operational questions;
• reviewing and supporting more complex customs declarations and procedures;
• handling or supporting repayment, remission and appeal procedures with customs authorities;
• supporting the application, amendment and monitoring of customs authorisations;
• communicating with customs authorities and other competent authorities;
• supporting the development and continuous improvement of internal customs and compliance processes;
• contributing to the review and standardisation of operational procedures;
• supporting AEO and other customs authorisation and monitoring procedures;
• monitoring and analysing developments in customs legislation and related areas of law;
• supporting questions relating to embargoes, sanctions, regulations and other customs and foreign trade requirements;
• preparing and further developing internal work instructions and technical guidance;
• supporting our operational teams and internal stakeholders with customs-related questions;
• contributing to digitalisation and automation projects within Customs & Compliance.

As your experience grows, you will gradually have the opportunity to take greater ownership of individual compliance topics and projects.

Your Profile

You do not need to have mastered every area of customs law already. What matters to us is that you have a good professional foundation and are motivated to continue expanding your knowledge.

Ideally, you bring:

• practical professional experience in customs, for example with a customs service provider, freight forwarder, industrial company or customs authority;
• good knowledge of operational customs procedures, particularly import and/or export;
• some initial experience or knowledge of repayment, remission, appeals or post-clearance amendments to customs declarations;
• some knowledge of customs authorisations or an interest in developing expertise in this area;
• a basic understanding that customs operations involve more than customs declarations alone and that regulations, embargoes, sanctions and other legal requirements also need to be considered;
• a strong interest in developing your knowledge of customs law and Customs Compliance;
• a structured and accurate approach to your work;
• an analytical mindset and an interest in developing practical solutions;
• strong communication skills and a willingness to actively engage with colleagues, customers and authorities;
• confidence in discussing and clarifying matters directly with customs authorities, both by phone and in writing;
• very good command of the local language and good English skills, both written and spoken.

A specific academic degree is not a requirement. A customs-related vocational qualification, further professional training or a relevant degree can be beneficial, but your practical experience, professional understanding and willingness to develop are what matter most to us.
